The residential model PH28 incorporates TWO unique safety features not found on competitive tankless gas water heaters. First is the OXYGEN DEPLETION SENSING system (Indoor Model Only). Emissions from the sampling burner are constantly analyzed for carbon monoxide gas. If necessary, the fan speed is adjusted by the on board cpu. If the fan speed adjustments do not resolve the combustion problem, the burner will be turned off and a potentially dangerous situation avoided. An error message will be displayed. Second is the FILM TYPE OVERHEAT SENSING. Paloma alone senses high temperature at all positions surrounding the combustion chamber. Other manufactures only sense at one point on the combustion chamber. Paloma was the first tankless gas water heater to enter the U.S. market 30 years ago.
